Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

The Position
Information Technology (IT) Professionals analyze, develop, implement, maintain, and modify computer operations, systems, networks, databases, applications, and/or information security. Incumbents may perform duties in one or more IT specialization areas depending on the needs of the agency.
Incumbents perform journey level duties and may serve as a lead worker to lower level IT staff as assigned. This is a supervisory level for the Computer Operations function.
The current vacancy is located in the Operations Unit of the IT Department, Division of Welfare and Supportive Services (DWSS), Central Office, Carson City, Nevada. The incumbent will will be primarily responsible for the design, implementation, administration, configuration and monitoring of the SOA/PORTAL Product Suite in DWSS's Development and Testing environments. These products will complete the DWSS SOA/PORTAL infrastructure and requires a high degree of technical skill. This position will also upgrade, monitor and optimize environments, environment capacity, performance, and other management reporting; business continuity and environment security testing and evaluation; document, review, and enhance processes required to maintain environments and support application changes as needed for Developers and Testers. The incumbent will be proficient in WebSphere/PORTAL and WebServer technology on multiple server operating systems and across all DWSS environments.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in computer science, management information systems, or closely related field and two years of progressively responsible professional IT experience relevant to the duties of the position which may include computer operations, systems administration, network administration, database administration, and/or applications analysis and development; OR two years of experience as an IT Professional I in Nevada State service; OR four years of relevant technical experience as an IT Technician IV or above in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Special Requirements
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
    This position is subject to call-out or call-back.
    Working evenings, weekends, and/or holidays is required.
Additional Position Criteria
    Experience with any JAVA based MiddleWare servers, like WebSphere, WebLogic or JBOSS.
    OR Database Administration experience PLUS experience with any LINUX/UNIX operating systems.
