APPROXIMATE ANNUAL SALARY -  $43,639.20 to  $64,707.12  PAY GRADE: 34
The salary range indicated in this announcement is based on the Employee/Employer retirement compensation schedule. An employer-only option is available at a reduced salary range. Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

The Position
Park Supervisors (Non-Commissioned) plan, organize, oversee and participate in the administration, maintenance, interpretive programs and resource management of an assigned State park.
Incumbents function as first-line supervisors who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; assign and review work; and initiate disciplinary action.
These positions oversee the operations, maintenance and educational programming of state parks located in the southern region of the Nevada State Parks system. The incumbents are expected, under the general direction of the Southern Region Manager, to carry out the day to day operational requirements of the assigned state park. Duties include the maintenance and upkeep of park buildings and grounds, collection/safeguarding of fees, safeguarding of park visitors and facilities, management of the park budget and other administrative duties. A key component of these positions is developing and carrying out a well crafted interpretive program that provides visitors with a general knowledge of the natural, cultural and historic aspects of the park where they are assigned. It is also imperative the incumbent and staff is visitor focused a determined to provide each visitor with an extraordinary and memorable experience. Do to the nature of these parks, the incumbent will be required to work a flexible work schedule, which includes working weekends and holidays. The incumbent may also be required to reside in park housing, when provided. One position is located at the Old Las Vegas Mormon Fort State Historic Park in Las Vegas and one position is located at Kershaw Ryan State Park in Caliente, Nevada. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major or minor in park management, outdoor recreation management, ecology, forestry, biology or closely related field and two years of journey level park ranger experience including park operation, maintenance and interpretation of park facilities; OR two years of experience as a Park Ranger II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
    Requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.
    Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances.
    Applicant is required to submit to a background check prior to appointment.
    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required.
    This position is subject to call-out, shift work including evenings, weekends and holidays, and travel throughout the State as required.
    As part of the selection process, the Division of State Parks requires a comprehensive background investigation which will include a urinalysis, polygraph and a psychological examination.
