Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

The Position
Incumbents function as managers who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of subordinate supervisors; develop policies and procedures; and allocate staff and resources to accomplish goals and objectives.
The incumbent in this position is responsible for overseeing, under the supervision of the, Deputy Administrator, the day to day operation of state parks & programs within the Southern Region of the Nevada Division of State Parks. Duties include developing and overseeing employee recruitment, retention and training, budget administration, overseeing park operation, resource management, developing and updating park operational plans, maintenance, interpretation, visitor safety and concession/contracts oversight. The following parks are within the oversight of the Southern Region: Valley of Fire State Park, Spring Mountain Ranch State Park, Old Las Vegas Mormon Fort State Historic Park, Big Bend of the Colorado State Recreation Area, Beaver Dam State Park, Cathedral Gorge State Park, Echo Canyon State Park, Elgin Schoolhouse State Historic Site, Kershaw-Ryan State Park and Spring Valley State Park.
The incumbent is responsible to ensure that all laws, regulations, policies and procedures are followed throughout the region. In addition, the incumbent is responsible for mentoring region employees, evaluating performance, carrying out inspections and remaining current on proper recreation, resource and business management practices. It is imperative the incumbent communicates effectively and openly and acts as a liaison between the parks, the division and department administration.
The incumbent must understand and be capable of administering budgets to ensure that state funds are effectively utilized and accounted for. The incumbent must understand and be able to work within state government parameters. It is also necessary to establish a system for measuring the value of current and proposed programs, effectively justify the need for budget increases. Further, the incumbent is expected to fully understand the operational needs of each park within the region and to maximize effectiveness of park interpretation, customer service, maintenance and overall operation.
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major or minor in park management, park interpretation, outdoor recreation management, natural science, business administration or related field and three years of experience in managing the personnel, budget and resources of a complex park, public entity, or business with multiple, diversified facilities, activities, and services offered. Management experience must have included developing and monitoring budgets, supervising facility maintenance, maintaining security of establishments and facilities, and providing various services to the public; OR two years of experience as a Park Supervisor III in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of
appointment and for continuing employment.

This position is subject to call-out, shift work including evenings, weekends and holidays, and travel throughout the State as required.
As part of the selection process, the Division of State Parks requires a comprehensive background investigation which will include a urinalysis, polygraph and a psychological examination.
The Examination

The exam will consist of a rating of training and experience weighted 100%.
