APPROXIMATE ANNUAL SALARY -  $35,475.12 to  $51,865.92  PAY GRADE: 29
The salary range indicated in this announcement is based on the Employee/Employer retirement compensation schedule. An employer-only option is available at a reduced salary range. Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

The Position
Fish Hatchery Technicians care for fish and adjust feed levels; keep accurate feed and population records; maintain and clean troughs, tanks, ponds, raceways, traps, holding pens and launders; maintain screens, water sources and aeration devices.
This position is being recruited at both Fish Hatchery Technician 1 and 2 levels. Position may be filled at either level. Applicants are encouraged to apply for the level that best fits their education and experience.
Incumbent is required to reside in Department housing at the Gallagher Hatchery provided by the Department of Wildlife. A deduction for the current rent of $40 is taken from the employee's paycheck every two weeks. This position is located in a remote are in Ruby Valley on the Ruby Lake National Wildlife Refuge, approximately 60 miles south of Elko accessed on a two-lane road, the last 10 miles is a county maintained dirt road.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Graduation from high school or equivalent education and one year of experience in caring for fish and adjusting fish feed levels; keeping accurate feed and population records; maintaining and cleaning troughs, tanks, ponds, raceways, traps, holding pens and launders; and maintaining screens, water sources and aeration devices at a fish hatchery; OR one year of experience working as a Fish Hatchery Technician I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Notes
    Per NRS 483.926 incumbent is required to obtain and maintain a valid Nevada commercial driver's license and, per FMCSR 383.93 and 383.95, incumbent maintain a current tanker endorsement and air brake certification.
Special Requirements
    Incumbent is required to respond to emergency situations which may occur during non-working hours.
Skills Required
    Incumbent is required to live on site in Department provided housing.
