The salary range indicated in this announcement is based on the Employee/Employer retirement compensation schedule. An employer-only option is available at a reduced salary range. Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

Administrative Assistants perform a broad variety of clerical, secretarial and administrative support duties in an assigned agency, program or other work unit within State government and the Nevada System of Higher Education.
This position is in the Office of Prospective Students at the University of Nevada, Reno and is located in Reno, NV. Applicants must indicate availability for this location. This position is responsible for providing administrative and logistical support to the Office of Prospective Students in its mission to recruit students to attend UNR. This position is responsible for managing the department's budget, maintaining spreadsheets, keeping running balances and preparing reports. This person will move money from one account to another as needed and prepare budget projections based on prior spending. This position will control the departments PCard, training users, verifying charges and authorizing payments. This person will monitor the travel expenses, process the paperwork, maintain spreadsheets and prepare reports on specific trips. This position monitors the financial management aspect of the Recruitment Plus software. The person handles logistics for specific recruitment events, and provides arrangement oversight and support for the Campus Visit programs.
Normal hours are M-F 8-5. Occassional evenings or weekends may be required.

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Graduation from high school or equivalent education and three years of progressively responsible relevant work experience which included experience in one or more of the following areas: maintenance of complex records and files; public/customer relations including explaining detailed policies, regulations and requirements; preparation and processing of financial and statistical documents such as payroll, travel, claims and budgeting forms; and assisting staff and management with projects and activities; OR one year of experience as an Administrative Assistant II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required.
Additional Position Criteria
Requires experience managing departmental or company budgets, preparing reports, and assisting with budget projections.
Requires excellent skills with Excel, Word and Outlook.
The Examination

The exam will consist of a written weighted 100%.
