The salary range indicated in this announcement is based on the Employee/Employer retirement compensation schedule. An employer-only option is available at a reduced salary range. Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

The Position
Administrative Assistants perform a broad variety of clerical, secretarial and administrative support duties in an assigned agency, program or other work unit within State government and the Nevada System of Higher Education.
IMPORTANT NOTICE: The recruitment for the Office for Prospective Students has been cancelled. However the list of eligible applicants will be used for a recruitment in Development and Alumni Relations as well as other AA 2 vacancies.
This position is in the Office for Prospective Students at the University of Nevada, Reno and is located in Reno, NV. Applicants must indicate availability for this location.
This position is responsible for providing administrative and logistical support to the Office of Prospective Students in its mission to recruit students to attend UNR.
This position will receive requests for individual or group campus visits and will make arrangements for tour guides, lunches, order parking passes and reserves rooms. This person will show the PowerPoint presentation on the admissions process and answer basic admissions questions. This position will maintain spreadsheets on all expenses related to the campus visit programs. This person will assist in the coordination of new student orientation in the Fall and Spring, and the Wolf Pack advising and registration day for freshmen. Position will order supplies, schedule the mailing of the packets, monitor RSVPs, and attend the event. This person must maintain efficient communication with the Elko and South Nevada offices, advising them of recruitment activities in their areas, coordinate mailings, and handle overflow phone calls. This position will maintain travel expense records in support of the AA III.
Normal hours are 8-5 M-F. Occasional evenings or weekends may be required.

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Graduation from high school or equivalent education and two years of clerical and administrative support experience which included experience in one or more of the following areas: maintaining records and files; preparing a variety of materials using a personal computer or word processor; assisting customers in completing forms and applications; and/or performing secretarial duties in support of professional staff; OR one year of experience as an Administrative Assistant I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Special Requirements
A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required.
Additional Position Criteria
Experience handling the complex logistics for meetings and large events.
Experience managing accounts and preparing reports using spreadsheets.
Requires excellent communication skills.
This position will be required to speak in front of groups.
Requires excellent skills with Excel, Word, and Outlook.
