APPROXIMATE ANNUAL SALARY -  $45,560.16 to  $67,692.96  PAY GRADE: 35
The salary range indicated in this announcement is based on the Employee/Employer retirement compensation schedule. An employer-only option is available at a reduced salary range. Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

The Position
Grants & Projects Analysts develop and implement and/or assess, monitor, control and review grant-in-aid projects/programs administered by State agencies and provide assistance to recipients in evaluating program effectiveness.
The position provides pre-award administration of institutional research contracts and grants proposals and awards for the Office of Sponsored Projects at the University of Nevada, Reno. This position will provide assistance to Principal Investigators and staff to coordinate research grant applications for new proposals and renewals, including proposal package review to ensure compliance with agency regulations, provide guidance in proposal preparation and award administration, develop and negotiate contract agreements with private and public sector sponsors, and coordinate approval process, issue and negotiate terms and conditions of agreements with subcontractors.
Applicants must indicate availability for working in Reno, NV. The work schedule for this position is M-F 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. This position is contingent on continued funding and is not eligible for lay off benefits. Applicants with cradle to grave experience in research administration are encouraged to apply. Applicants familiar with the use of grant proposal submission programs, i.e., Grants.gov, Cayuse, COEUS, Fastlane, and ECommons are encouraged to apply. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in public or business administration, accounting, finance or related field and two years of experience in the administration, assessment, coordination, analysis, and revision of programs related to the project administered; OR one year of experience as a Grants & Projects Analyst I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

    As part of the hiring process, applicants for positions in the Nevada System of Higher Education may be required to demonstrate the ability to perform job-related tasks.
Special Requirements
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
Additional Position Criteria
    Requires job experience with proposal development and contract negotiations.
    Requires experience with federal grants and contracts administration.
    Requires experience with federal and general accounting principles including financial reporting and budget preparation.
    Requires experience interpreting and utilizing OMB Circulars applicable to institutes of higher education and/or state and local government.
    Requires excellent computer skills in Word, Access, and Excel.
    Requires skill and experience using financial software such as Advantage, CAIS, Quickbooks.
The Examination

Exam Type: Training and Experience Evaluation

The exam will consist of a rating of training and experience weighted 100%. It is essential that applications include extensively detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. Your score will be based on the information provided in your application and your responses to the questions asked below. If there are several parts to a question, answer each part separately. Along with each answer, identify the position(s) and/or training (as described in your application) where you gained the background asked for in the question. 4) Describe your experience, including number of years, acting as a consultant to departments and professionals regarding the grant process.
5) Describe your experience, including number of years, working with sub-grantees and granting agencies.
