APPROXIMATE ANNUAL SALARY -  $38,523.60 to  $56,626.56  PAY GRADE: 31
The salary range indicated in this announcement is based on the Employee/Employer retirement compensation schedule. An employer-only option is available at a reduced salary range. Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

The Position
Staff Research Associates perform or supervise the performance of laboratory and/or field experimental procedures in support of academically-supervised research and teaching in the natural, physical, or social sciences.
This full-time position is located at the Nevada System of Higher Education, UNR, College of Science, Department of Biology. Under supervision of the principal investigator, the position performs assigned molecular cell biology and genetic experiments in neural development in vertebrate embryos.
Duties include organization and genotyping of mouse breeding colony; molecular and histological analysis of experimental tissue samples; troubleshooting procedures; laboratory management with regard to the following: operate and maintain scientific instrumentation, inventory of supplies, and train and lead student workers; other duties as assigned.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in the required area of specialization and one year of professional experience in a research laboratory; OR one year of experience as a Staff Research Associate I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

    As part of the hiring process, applicants for positions in the Nevada System of Higher Education may be required to demonstrate the ability to perform job-related tasks.
Special Requirements
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
Additional Position Criteria
    This position requires experience working in a research laboratory.
    This position requires experience with molecular biology techniques.
    This position requires laboratory research experience in one or more of the following areas: histology, cell biology, microscopy and embryology techniques.
    This position will perform research with mice.
