The Position
Wildlife Staff Specialists perform program planning, analysis and evaluation; draft proposed legislation, policies, procedures and regulations related to wildlife management programs and activities throughout the State.
Position serves as staff biologist to the Habitat Bureau Chief, providing expertise in terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems for application to land and water use impact assessment; acts as Department liaison with state and federal agencies and other local planning agencies. Coordinates and manages Habitat Bureau W-58 FW3T & Mining Federal Aid Grant programs statewide and supervises the Regional Habitat Supervisors.
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in wildlife management, biology or closely related field and four years of professional experience that included organizing, planning and completing wildlife management studies, writing technical reports and preparing species or land use management plans and recommendations; OR one year as a Biologist III in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Exam Type: Training and Experience Evaluation
The exam will consist of a rating of training and experience weighted 100%. It is essential that applications include extensively detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. Your score will be based on the information provided in your application and your responses to the questions asked below. If there are several parts to a question, answer each part separately. Along with each answer, identify the position(s) and/or training (as described in your application) where you gained the background asked for in the question. 3) Describe your experience conducting training seminars as it relates to 1) wildlife management, 2) statistical analysis and techniques 3) management applications 4) planning and coordinating instructors.
4) Describe your experience compiling annual and quarterly reports for presentation to 1) Agency 2) Legislative committees.
5) Describe your experience administering, monitoring and maintaining federal grants in the following areas: 1) writing project agreements and grants 2) working with grant administrators 3) monitoring cost accounting system and reports.
6) Describe your experience developing databases.
7) Describe your experience writing and reviewing technical reports.
8) Describe your experience developing and administering contracts.
9) Describe your experience developing and conducting program evaluations.
