The salary range indicated in this announcement is based on the Employee/Employer retirement compensation schedule. An employer-only option is available at a reduced salary range. Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

The Position
Information Technology (IT) Professionals analyze, develop, implement, maintain, and modify computer operations, systems, networks, databases, applications, and/or information security. Incumbents may perform duties in one or more IT specialization areas depending on the needs of the agency.
Incumbents perform journey level duties and may serve as a lead worker to lower level IT staff as assigned.
This position is located in Las Vegas. The incumbent will act as a journey level application developer and will establish and maintain good working relationships with all levels of staff and DMV user groups. Crucial to this relationship building is the ability to analyze projects or problems and design solutions specific to the project or the individual's requirements. The incumbent will act as a journey level application developer in a large, multi-user client server environment. This environment is complemented with a continually expanding suite of web development projects. Our application development consists of four primary categories: Design/Analysis, Programming, Testing and Documentation. The objective as a designer/analyst is to research, engineer and construct applications and computer programs to the system specifications with intermittent technical supervision. Typical projects range in size and complexity depending on specific system requirements. The successful Programmer / Analyst is able to code software applications and computer programs in accordance with the documented design; through testing and subsequent implementation, ensure proper performance and efficiency guidelines are met by each and every application and computer program; through documentation, ensure all applications and computer programs are pictorially represented in accordance with development standards and procedures.
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in computer science, management information systems, or closely related field and two years of progressively responsible professional IT experience relevant to the duties of the position which may include computer operations, systems administration, network administration, database administration, and/or applications analysis and development; OR two years of experience as an IT Professional I in Nevada State service; OR four years of relevant technical experience as an IT Technician IV or above in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Additional Position Criteria
This position requires experience in three (3) or more of the following:
1) COBOL in an IBM CICS environment, utilizing an IBM DB2 database
2) SQL coding
3) Sybase's GUI - PowerBuilder
4) MS Visual Studio
5) VB.NET and/or ASP.NET
6) XML, XSLT and Web Services

The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience.
