Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

The Position
Under immediate supervision, incumbents perform a variety of duties at the sub-journey level while receiving training for advancement to an entry-level professional class related to fiscal or business management functions in State government.
Incumbents continue to receive training in performing the duties relevant to the class they are underfilling. This is the final trainee level in the series and incumbents may progress to the appropriate professional series they are underfilling upon meeting the minimum qualifications, satisfactory performance, and with the recommendation of the appointing authority.
The Department of Health and Human Services is seeking to fill a Fiscal/Business Trainee 3 (underfilling a Management Analyst 2) in Carson City. This position is responsible for planning, developing, and coordinating fiscal compliance reviews for the Nevada Resilience Fund, including assisting with reviews of sub-grantee reimbursement submissions. Duties include evaluating financial records, ensuring programs and projects progress according to established fiscal timelines, and providing oversight of grant revenue. The role involves developing, monitoring, and tracking grant revenue in the general ledger to ensure accurate data entry and classification, maintaining the billing system, preparing quarterly reports, updating object codes in accordance with state accounting policies and procedures, and ensuring timely billing aligned with the approved scope of work and eligible expenses. This position also reviews projects and sub-awards for compliance with parent award document requirements and conducts stakeholder training focused on Requests for Reimbursement, submission processes, and required documentation to ensure compliance. Additionally, the role serves as a liaison between vendors, providers, and program staff to support centralized grants management, budgeting, accounting, and contracts or subcontracts. Administrative responsibilities include supporting grant administration, preparing documentation for budget development, monitoring expenditures, supporting the Bureau?s legislative efforts, participating in quality assurance reviews, and assisting with the review of regulations.

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Graduation from high school or equivalent education and two years of technical and/or paraprofessional experience in the field in which the applicant is to be trained; OR Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in business or public administration, accounting, finance, or closely related field and one year of experience as described above; OR Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in business or public administration, accounting, finance, or closely related; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.

Incumbents may progress to the entry level in the professional series upon meeting the minimum qualifications and with the approval of the appointing authority.
Individuals employed in this series will be required to meet the Special Requirements and understand the Informational Notes of the class series they are to be trained in. These will be identified at the time of recruitment.

This position requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.
Additional Position Criteria
This recruitment is only open to current classified employees in state service with at least six months of continuous, full-time equivalent service in the specified division.
