The salary range indicated in this announcement is based on the Employee/Employer retirement compensation schedule. An employer-only option is available at a reduced salary range. Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

The Position
Classes in this series serve as line department personnel function officers. Incumbents in this series plan, organize and administer a comprehensive personnel services program including employee relations, selection, classification coordination, position control, evaluation, training, payroll and other related areas. Personnel Officers supervise the work of other personnel staff.
Incumbents function as first-line supervisors who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; assign and review work; and initiate disciplinary action.
The Division of Social Services (DSS) engages clients, staff, and the community to provide public assistance benefits to all who qualify and reasonable support for children with absentee parents to help Nevadans achieve safe, stable, and healthy lives. DSS supports and empowers its employees and supports productive and meaningful career growth and is committed to achieving the highest standards of excellence with comprehensive training programs. The incumbent will be part of a team that provides professional and customer-oriented human resources services to over 2500 employees. The incumbent will work closely with and report to the Chief of HR Services/Personnel Officer 3; manage the Northern office, staff and programs - Workers' Compensation, ADA, FMLA, Leave Management, Payroll, Recruitment, etc. while serving as a consultant to and partnering with management to address and resolve employee issues and concerns related to grievances, workplace relations and performance management; communicate with employees, supervisors and managers, offering reasonable and viable solutions to complex HR issues; provide supervision and direct work activities of professional and/or technical staff delivering comprehensive HR services. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Graduation from an accredited four year college or university in personnel management, business, public administration or related area and four years of progressively responsible professional personnel management experience, including one year of personnel program management experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
