Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

The Position
Licensed Professional Engineers provide professional services involving the application of engineering principles and data, or activities in connection with public or private utilities, structures, buildings, machines, equipment or projects impacting the public welfare or the safeguarding of life, health or property.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
This position is based in Carson City within the Hydraulics Division. Work involves supporting NDOT's Hydraulics and Stormwater Programs through engineering analysis and application of hydrologic, hydraulic, and water-quality principles. Typical duties include using approved models to identify design flows and drainage needs; preparing technical studies, plans, and specifications for channels, storm drains, culverts, detention basins, and related facilities; and reviewing engineering calculations, studies, reports, and plans for compliance with NDOT standards and Federal, State, and local requirements. The engineer may also provide technical guidance to other NDOT Divisions and Districts, coordinate project activities with public agencies, research material costs, participate in site investigations, and support construction by reviewing submittals, troubleshooting field issues, and conducting on-site inspections. Special Notes
A person that is a licensed Professional Engineer in another state must become licensed as a Professional Engineer in Nevada within six months of appointment as a condition of employment.

A valid drivers license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
Registration as a Professional Engineer is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.

The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience.
