The Position
Information Technology (IT) Managers are responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and controlling the IT activities, in one or more IT specialization areas, of the State, a department, or a division.
Incumbents function as managers who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of subordinate supervisors; develop policies and procedures; and allocate staff and resources to accomplish goals and objectives.
This announcement will be used to fill an IT Manager 2 position within the DMV Motor Vehicles IT Division located in Carson City. This position manages the Data Engineering & Science team and is responsible for estimating, planning, and implementing IT initiatives involving DMV data. This includes designing and building systems for collecting, storing, and analyzing data that produce high-quality information for DMV data-driven decision-making in support of State initiatives. The incumbent will interact with all internal and external parties that use DMV data, including all DMV divisions, the Governor's Technology Office (GTO), and any other State agency or third-party that handles DMV data; create data standards and manage data initiatives to ensure industry standard best practices and security are consistently enforced. Additionally, this position trains and evaluates employees; prepares budget documentation for equipment, software, and FTE's needed to perform required data projects; coordinates activities with other IT units; develops and analyzes project requirements. ***THIS RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE WITHOUT FURTHER NOTICE DEPENDING ON THE NUMBER OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED. In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in computer science, management information systems, or closely related field and six years of progressively responsible professional IT experience which involved strategic planning, project management, quality assurance, and computer operations, systems administration, network administration, database administration, or applications analysis and development. Three years of this experience must have been in a supervisory or project manager capacity; OR one year of experience as an IT Manager I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Notes
International Information Systems Security Certification Consortium, Inc (ISC2), Certified Information System Security Professional (CISSP) is equivalent to three years of experience.
Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) is equivalent to two years of experience.
Global Information Assurance Certification (GIAC), GIAC Security Expert (GSE) is equivalent to two years of experience.
Other nationally recognized information security certifications may be substituted for up to one year of experience.

This position is subject to working nights, weekends and holidays.
Statewide travel may be required.
This position is subject to call-out or call-back.
Requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.
Additional Position Criteria
This recruitment is only open to current classified employees in state service with at least six months of continuous, full-time equivalent service.
