The Position
Information Technology (IT) Technicians install, configure, monitor, and maintain networks and monitor and maintain help desk user support or mainframe and server operations.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
Aging and Disability Services Division (ADSD) is currently recruiting an IT Technician 5 in Reno/Sparks, Nevada. This recruitment may be used to fill current and future vacancies as they occur in the following program: Information Technology (IT).
Incumbents provide network support for work group business functions; enable data transfer, peripheral sharing, and applications sharing within the work group to include wireless transport methods. Duties are performed in accordance with established standards for hardware, software, and work group functionality. This is the journey level for network operations and support. Incumbents upgrade, repair, or replace software and hardware components on workstations; add memory, swap hard disk drives and monitors; attach peripherals; and configure and install desktop applications for optimum performance. Typical tasks include assisting users with network, application, system, instructing users on PC operation and faults; assisting IT staff with installations or resolutions as required; and identifying Internet protocol (IP) addresses for failed network connectivity issues. This position requires lifting and moving up to 50 pounds and working four 10-hour shifts.

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Graduation from high school or equivalent education and two years of IT work experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of network workstation hardware and software; OR one year of relevant experience as an IT Technician IV in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
Requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.
