Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

The Position
GIS Analysts are responsible for designing, implementing, supporting and administering all aspects of a department's and/or division's enterprise geographic information system.
Incumbents function as first-line supervisors who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; assign and review work; and initiate disciplinary action.
This position is in the Information Technology unit and will provide a broad support to GIS users by helping them solve problems, improve their workflows, and find effective solutions. This role examines system and application issues, identifies the root cause, and takes steps to resolve them. It helps maintain and grow the organization's GIS resources such as data, software, equipment, and cloud tools so staff can use them efficiently. This position may serve in the supervisor's absence and is responsible for administering, maintaining, and upgrading the organization's Enterprise Geographic Information Systems (GIS) infrastructure. This includes GIS software, enterprise geo-databases, servers, services, data stores, and web applications used by divisions across the agency. This position oversees system configuration, performance tuning, security and access management, backup and recovery procedures, and the overall reliability and scalability of the Enterprise GIS environment. This position is responsible for developing and maintaining GIS data and applications, such as the statewide road network, calibrated linear referencing systems, enterprise web maps, dashboards, and other spatial data products. In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in geographic information systems, geography, cartography, computer information systems, or a closely related field and three years of professional GIS experience which included GIS/GPS data collection, analysis and validation; GIS software application development; and/or cartographic design. One year of this experience must have also included one or more of the following: spatial database development and management, GIS application development, and/or GIS application server administration; OR an Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in geographic information systems, geography, cartography, computer information systems, or a closely related field and four years of professional GIS experience as described above; OR graduation from high school or equivalent education and five years of professional GIS experience as described above; OR one year of experience as a GIS Analyst II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
Special Notes
Certification as a Geographic Information Systems Professional (GISP) from the GIS Certification Institute is equivalent to one year of work experience.
