The salary range indicated in this announcement is based on the Employee/Employer retirement compensation schedule. An employer-only option is available at a reduced salary range. Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

The Position
Employee Development Managers and Training Officers analyze, design, develop, implement, evaluate, manage and coordinate training and development for a department, division or a geographic region of a department's statewide training function and supervise and/or conduct sessions for vocation and/or skills training in specific occupational areas and general management development.
The Department of Public Safety is recruiting for an Employee Development Manager in Carson City within the Fire Marshal Division. The Employee Development Manager will analyze, design, develop, implement, evaluate, manage, and coordinate training and certification programs related to emergency response to fire, hazardous materials, and other events provided by the Fire Marshal Division; supervise and/or conduct sessions for emergency services training and certification; promote recognized incident safety practices among fire fighters and emergency response personnel covered by federal and State statutes and regulations; and advise, plan, approve, review, organize, train, and execute curriculum specific to the needs of the department, State fire service, and emergency response personnel.

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in organizational behavior, education, communications, business or public administration or a related field and four years of professional experience planning and developing curriculum and coordinating and conducting training in an employer sponsored learning and development program including one year of experience supervising trainers and/or managing employee development programs; OR graduation from high school or equivalent education and six years of professional experience as described above; OR one year of experience as a Training Officer II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
Special Requirements
A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
This position requires valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.
Additional Position Criteria
Nevada Fire Officer IV certification or a Fire Officer IV certification that is accredited by IFSAC. Your certificate must be attached to your application in order for credit to be given.
Nevada Fire Service Instructor III certification or a Fire Service Instructor III certification that is accredited by IFSAC. Your certificate must be attached to your application in order for credit to be given.
Nevada Hazardous Materials Incident Command certification or a Hazardous Materials Incident Command certification that is accredited by IFSAC. Your certificate must be attached to your application in order for credit to be given.
