The Position
Management Analysts conduct a variety of studies, research and analysis of management and administrative areas such as budgeting and financial analysis; departmental operations; legislative analysis; management research; and statistical and informational analysis.
The Department of Public Safety is recruiting for a Management Analyst 1 within the Investigations Division in Carson City. The incumbent serves as a Digital Forensic Examiner and will be responsible for conducting forensic examinations of computers, mobile devices, and other digital media in support of criminal investigations; reviewing and verifying legal search authority documents submitted with examination requests; properly acquiring, preserving, and analyzing digital evidence using industry-standard forensic tools and methodologies; documenting findings in detailed forensic reports; providing technical assistance to investigators and prosecutors; maintaining chain of custody and evidence integrity; and testifying in court when required. The incumbent will also assist in developing and implementing digital forensic procedures, maintaining forensic hardware and software, and staying current with emerging technologies and trends in digital investigations.
The chosen candidate must be willing and capable of adjusting their work hours and travel throughout the state to meet agency needs; able to review graphic, disturbing, and otherwise sensitive digital material in a professional and objective manner; and participate in ongoing digital forensic training and certifications as directed by the Division. Computer literacy and technical aptitude, with the ability to learn and apply specialized forensic software and tools for digital evidence acquisition and analysis, is preferred. ***THIS RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE WITHOUT FURTHER NOTICE DEPENDING ON THE NUMBER OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED. In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in public or business administration, finance, social sciences, mathematics or related field and one year of professional experience in the research, development, evaluation or revision of programs, organizations, methods or procedures; OR graduation from high school or equivalent education and three years of professional experience as described above; OR two years of experience as an Accountant Technician I or Tax Examiner II in Nevada State service; OR one year of experience as an Accountant Technician II or Fiscal/Business Professional Trainee III in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
Special Requirements
This position requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
Additional Position Criteria
This recruitment is only open to current classified employees in state service with at least six months of continuous, full-time equivalent service.
