The salary range indicated in this announcement is based on the Employee/Employer retirement compensation schedule. An employer-only option is available at a reduced salary range. Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

The Position
Museum Attendants assist visitors at museums and provide information and directions and perform routine security activities to ensure the safety of visitors and protect exhibits.
Under general supervision, incumbents perform the full range of duties outlined in the series concept. This is the journey level in the series.
This is a position in the Department of Tourism & Cultural Affairs, Division of Museums & History at the Lost City Museum in Overton, Nevada. Museum Attendant will:
1) Conduct sales and handle money using a Point-of-Sale (POS) system in the Museum Store, constantly interacting (face to face) with the public and occasionally large school groups. 2) Museum store inventory management includes reordering items, researching new products, counting items, rectifying invoices, and creating reports. 3) Attend admissions desk, open and close registers, answer phone and route calls, clean up spills and messes and some light janitorial tasks as needed, and maintain a tidy, well-stocked Museum Store. 4) Use a computer to access email and use of a telephone to process orders for the museum's store. Orders will need to be processed and shipped within 3 days of receiving order.
This part-time position has a variable work week from Thursday - Sunday and is required to work some holidays and evenings, with some vacation coverage as needed.

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Graduation from high school or equivalent education and one year of experience working with the public; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
Special Requirements
A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
Some positions require work on weekends and/or holidays.
