The salary range indicated in this announcement is based on the Employee/Employer retirement compensation schedule. An employer-only option is available at a reduced salary range. Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

The Position
Accountants are responsible for preparing financial statements in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and the standards of the Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB).
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
Serve as supervisor of Accounts Payable and Travel and other accounting staff in the absence of Accountant III. Provide training for Payment voucher system and CoreNV as well as maintain the desk procedures. Review, audit and provide guidance for Payment Vouchers. Train and monitor Payroll supervisor on reconciliations. Monitor the financial system for accuracy and provide training as needed. Log and reconcile bank accounts. Reconcile Contract Retention payments, quarterly interest payments and year end reporting. Research stale claims, Journal vouchers (JV's), travel claims and billing Claims. Reconcile general ledger as assigned and assist in required reporting. Complete, audit and review travel claims and procedures. Prepare ad hoc reporting as needed. Provide research as needed for NDOT and audit requests. Prepare year end ACFR reporting. ***THIS RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE WITHOUT FURTHER NOTICE DEPENDING ON THE NUMBER OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED. In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in accounting and one year of experience performing professional accounting work; OR Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance or closely related field and two years of experience performing professional accounting work; OR one year of experience as an Accountant I in Nevada State service.
Special Requirements
