The salary range indicated in this announcement is based on the Employee/Employer retirement compensation schedule. An employer-only option is available at a reduced salary range. Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

The Position
Incumbents function as managers who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of subordinate supervisors; develop policies and procedures; and allocate staff and resources to accomplish goals and objectives.
This recruitment will be used to fill the Associate Warden for Operations at High Desert State Prison (HDSP), located in Indian Springs, Nevada. The incumbent supervises the classification staff; chair classification hearings for special reviews, prepares various reports including parole board; investigates reported infractions of rules, regulations, and irregular or suspicious occurrences; reviews and investigates misconduct reports and ensure corrective action is taken. Direct and supervise the movement of inmates, employees and visitors. Deploy the use of resources and equipment in the event of an emergency to control a situation. Ensure proper processing of all inmates formal grievances; review specific issues to ensure resolution; prepare a monthly activity report on grievances.
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in criminal justice, social work, public administration, psychology, or related field and two years of experience as a supervisory correctional caseworker or correctional lieutenant in an institution consisting of inmates housed in a maximum and/or medium security facility, correctional camp, or correctional transitional facility; OR Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in criminal justice, social work, public administration, psychology, or related field and three years of experience as described above; OR graduation from high school or equivalent education and four years of experience as described above; OR two years of experience as a supervisory Correctional Casework Specialist III or as a Correctional Lieutenant in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.

A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
