Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

The Position
Classes in this series serve as line department personnel function officers. Incumbents in this series plan, organize and administer a comprehensive personnel services program including employee relations, selection, classification coordination, position control, evaluation, training, payroll and other related areas. Personnel Officers supervise the work of other personnel staff.
The Department of Public Safety (DPS) is recruiting to fill a Personnel Officer 2 position within the Director's Office. The position may be filled in either Carson City or Las Vegas depending upon the candidate chosen and needs of the agency. The incumbent will work closely with and report to the HR Manager and will be responsible for providing supervision and directing work activities of professional and/or technical staff delivering comprehensive HR services. The incumbent establishes and maintains relationships with hiring managers to stay abreast of current and future hiring and business needs; develops and implements innovative strategies to identify, attract, and hire high quality employees; assists departments and hiring managers with developing appropriate screening criteria and interview questions; coordinates and facilitates the interview process; and maintains an exam and interview question database. The incumbent will also provide Collective Bargaining Agreement resources to covered employees, work with the Labor Relations Unit regarding any changes or updates to the agreements and provides training to the employees regarding their rights as collective bargaining unit members, develops and facilitates relevant training for management and employees, and serves as an internal consultant and subject matter expert to achieve goals and objectives related to the DPS' visions and priorities.

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Graduation from an accredited four year college or university in personnel management, business, public administration or related area and four years of progressively responsible professional personnel management experience, including one year of personnel program management experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required.
A valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment.
