The Position
Licensed Professional Engineers provide professional services involving the application of engineering principles and data, or activities in connection with public or private utilities, structures, buildings, machines, equipment or projects impacting the public welfare or the safeguarding of life, health or property.
Incumbents function as first-line supervisors who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; assign and review work; and initiate disciplinary action.
This recruitment is for the Supervisor of Greenhouse Gases (GHGs) and Mobile Source Branch within the Nevada Division of Environmental Protection's Bureau of Air Quality Planning. The functions of the Branch include, the research, development, and preparation of the Annual GHG Inventory Report; support in the management of programs aimed to reduce emissions from the mobile sources sector, such as the Diesel Emission Mitigation Fund, Nevada Clean Diesel Program and the Clean Trucks and Buses Incentive Program; providing support the analysis of GHG reduction polices; supporting the development of grant applications; research, development, and preparation of plans, regulations, statutes, and other documents for the implementation of state programs and the federal Clean Air Act.
As the supervisor of the branch, the position is responsible for recruiting, training, mentoring and supervising branch staff; reviewing work products; planning and coordinating branch resources; project management; coordinating and leading public workshops and stakeholder engagement. ***THIS RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE WITHOUT FURTHER NOTICE DEPENDING ON THE NUMBER OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED. In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Current licensure as a Professional Engineer (P.E.) and one year of experience performing professional engineering work; OR one year of experience as a Professional Engineer in Nevada State service; OR current licensure as a Professional Engineer and an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Notes
An incumbent registered as a Professional Engineer in another state must become registered as a Professional Engineer in Nevada within six months following the date of appointment and as a continuing condition of employment.
Persons appointed to this class on or after July 1, 1995, must be licensed as a Professional engineer in the State of Nevada; persons appointed prior to that date who are not licensed may not represent themselves as such to other persons or entities.
Special Requirements
Registration as a Professional Engineer is required at the time of employment and as a condition of continuing employment.
