The Position
Management Analysts conduct a variety of studies, research and analysis of management and administrative areas such as budgeting and financial analysis; departmental operations; legislative analysis; management research; and statistical and informational analysis.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
The Division of Supportive Services is recruiting to fill a Management Analyst 1 position in Carson City. This position is located in the Carson City Administrative Services Unit on the Accounting team. Incumbents function as first-line supervisors who train, supervise, and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; assign and review work; and initiate disciplinary action. The incumbent performs a complex variety of clerical accounting work; assigns account coding for payments in accordance with complex rules, regulations, or program requirements; maintains records; posts payments and tracks balances in various spreadsheets; prepares complex reconciliations; and prepares financial documents using Excel. The incumbent will compare documents with supporting documentation and enter transactions into the state financial system. The incumbent will research and resolve problems with client benefits and vendor payments and other accounting issues, review and reconcile work done by others, and provide technical assistance to staff to resolve problems including reviewing and correcting errors. Qualified candidates should possess the ability to interpret and explain complex policies or procedures to a variety of constituents. The incumbent will also process other duties relating to federal reporting as assigned by management. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in public or business administration, finance, social sciences, mathematics or related field and one year of professional experience in the research, development, evaluation or revision of programs, organizations, methods or procedures; OR graduation from high school or equivalent education and three years of professional experience as described above; OR two years of experience as an Accountant Technician I or Tax Examiner II in Nevada State service; OR one year of experience as an Accountant Technician II or Fiscal/Business Professional Trainee III in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
Additional Position Criteria
    This recruitment is only open to current classified employees in State service with at least six months of continuous, full-time equivalent service who currently work in the Division of Social Services.
