The Position
Social Services Chiefs manage the overall design, analysis, development and evaluation of social services programs.
Incumbents function as managers who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of subordinate supervisors; develop policies and procedures; and allocate staff and resources to accomplish goals and objectives.
The Nevada Health Authority (NVHA) is hiring for a Social Services Chief III located in either Carson City or Reno. This position is a senior management level position located in the NVHA, Medicaid Division, and oversees multiple units within the federal policy and compliance team. The activities this position oversees includes, but is not limited to the following: Federally mandated Medicaid fair hearings program; Medicaid 1115 demonstration waivers; Medicaid and Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) State Plans and Alternative Benefit Plan including amendments to such plans; public hearings for the adoption of Medicaid policy and regulations; state legislative activities; compliance with federal guidance and regulations for the division; Medicaid Tribal Liaison duties; and regulatory research and analysis. This position acts as a liaison with the federal government and state legislative members and staff.

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in social work, health or social science, public or business administration or related field and five years of relevant professional experience which included directing social services or the operation of a program unit; coordinating program activities with officials and representatives of other agencies; interpretation, application and implementation of complex federal regulations and State laws; writing program policies, procedures, and reports; and conducting research and preparing recommendations. Two years of the required experience must have included supervision of staff at a paraprofessional level or above; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
Special Requirements
A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
