The Position
Health Resource Analysts assist in the development, maintenance, implementation, and revision of State health care policies and programs.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
This position is for a Health Resource Analyst II within the Nevada Health Authority (NHA), Office of Analytics, located in either Carson City, or Reno, NV. The primary focus of this role is to support the Maternal and Child Health (MCH) program through comprehensive data analysis, reporting, and visualization. Key responsibilities include responding to MCH-related data requests; preparing, cleaning, and analyzing datasets using statistical software such as SAS; and producing recurring and ad hoc reports. The analyst will develop and maintain interactive dashboards to visualize MCH trends and key indicators, supporting data-driven decision-making across the agency and with external partners. The position may also perform geospatial analysis to support public health evaluation and planning. This involves geocoding health data, linking individuals or program participants to legislative districts, and creating maps that highlight service needs, program reach, and health disparities. Additional duties include conducting data quality assurance checks, maintaining routine data loads, and providing technical support and training for MCH stakeholders. The analyst collaborates closely with internal and external partners to improve data collection, reporting, and the usability of analytical products.***THIS RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE WITHOUT FURTHER NOTICE DEPENDING ON THE NUMBER OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Bachelor's degree in the health sciences, public administration, social sciences or closely related field and two years of experience in the health/social sciences or related field which involved analysis of health data, identification of health care needs, and the development of health care reports, policies and programs; OR two years of experience as a Health Resource Analyst I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
Special Requirements
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
Additional Position Criteria
    Describe your experience working in statistical software (SAS, SQL, SPSS, R, Python), data visualization tools like Power BI, and geospatial tools and where that experience was gained?
