APPROXIMATE ANNUAL SALARY -  $70,282.08 to  $104,713.20  PAY GRADE: 37
The salary range indicated in this announcement is based on the Employee/Employer retirement compensation schedule. An employer-only option is available at a reduced salary range. Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

The Position
Tax Program Supervisors plan, organize, direct and administer tax and fee collection activities as well as tax compliance programs in an assigned agency; oversee taxpayer assistance and education activities performed by subordinate staff; and oversee revenue and taxpayer accounting functions.
Incumbents function as first-line supervisors who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; assign and review work; and initiate disciplinary action.
The Tax Program Supervisor 2 position is for the Department of Taxation Services Unit in the Las Vegas area. This position will directly supervise a variety of positions which include Tax Examiners, Administrative Assistants, and Administrative Aids. The duties of the employees being supervised include taxpayer services in person and over the phone, receiving payments from taxpayers, responding to taxpayer correspondence, reviewing security waiver requests, reviewing and processing the one-time event applications, attending educational events, participating in Ask the Advisor seminar, reviewing Penalty and interest waivers, and other duties and assigned. Supervisory duties include hiring, training, assigning and reviewing work, evaluating performance, as well as taking appropriate disciplinary actions. The candidate chosen for this position will also provide back up for Tax Program Supervisors in other areas of the Department within the Compliance Division. ***THIS RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE WITHOUT FURTHER NOTICE DEPENDING ON THE NUMBER OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in accounting, economics, business, or related field and two years of professional tax or revenue collection, examination or administration experience requiring the interpretation and application of laws and regulations in the review of financial documents for legal compliance, one year of which must have been in a supervisory capacity; OR graduation from high school or equivalent education and four years of professional experience as described above; OR one year of experience as a Tax Program Supervisor I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
Special Notes
    This position has a travel requirement of up to 25% of the time.
Special Requirements
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
    This position requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.
Additional Position Criteria
    This recruitment is only open to current classified employees in state service with at least six months of continuous, full-time equivalent service.
