Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

The Position
Information Technology (IT) Professionals analyze, develop, implement, maintain, and modify computer operations, systems, networks, databases, applications, and/or information security. Incumbents may perform duties in one or more IT specialization areas depending on the needs of the agency.
Under general direction, incumbents perform advanced journey level duties and may train, supervise, and evaluate the performance of subordinate staff and/or serve as a project leader as assigned. Incumbents may function as a unit leader to include directing the activities of a branch IT support unit, overseeing projects of limited scope, and coordinating activities with other work groups. This is a supervisory level for Computer Operations and the journey level for Information Security positions.
The Nevada Division of Child and Family Services (DCFS) is seeking a highly skilled, motivated, and experienced IT Professional 3 to join our Information Services team in Carson City, Nevada as a Database Administrator. Information Technology (IT) Professionals analyze, develop, implement, maintain, and modify computer operations, systems, networks, databases, applications, and/or information security. Incumbents may perform duties in one or more IT specialization areas depending on the needs of the agency. This role is central to the administration, maintenance, and support of the division's mission-critical applications and data infrastructure. As a key member of the Information Services team, the Database Administrator will oversee and manage enterprise databases across IBM Mainframe DB2, IBM DB2 LUW, and Microsoft SQL Server platforms. The incumbent will collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop, maintain, and optimize the agency's core applications, utilizing technologies such as COBOL, DB2, JCL, CICS, SQL Server, IBM DB2 LUW, and both online and batch COBOL programming. Candidates with experience in all of these technologies are encouraged to apply. The incumbent must enforce security standards, collaborate with developers and other IT teams, and provide leadership and mentoring to subordinate staff. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in computer science, management information systems, or closely related field and three years of professional IT experience relevant to the duties of the position which may include computer operations, systems administration, network administration, database administration, applications analysis and development, and/or information security, one year of which was at the journey level; OR one year of relevant experience as an IT Professional II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.

Special Requirements
    Some positions require specialized certification that will be identified at the time of recruitment.
    Some positions require statewide travel.
Additional Position Criteria
    This recruitment is only open to current classified employees in state service with at least six months of continuous, full-time equivalent service.
    Experience administering IBM Mainframe DB2 databases is required.
    Experience managing IBM DB2 LUW databases on Linux, Unix, or Windows platforms is required.
    Experience working with Microsoft SQL Server is required.
    Experience working with COBOL, JCL, and CICS in a mainframe environment is required.
The Examination
