The Position
Social Services Program Specialists perform administrative and professional work in conjunction with the administration of statewide public assistance, medical assistance, or social services programs.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
The Nevada Health Authority (NVHA) is hiring for a Social Services Program Specialist I to be located in either the Carson City or Reno office. This position is in the Policy Development and Program Management unit of the Nevada Health Authority-Division of Nevada Medicaid. The incumbent will be responsible for ongoing policy development, planning, implementing, and overseeing the principal components of behavioral health as well as NV Medicaid's lead coordinator support for the 1115 SUD Waiver. The position will be conducting comprehensive research and analyses of complex regulations in order to develop recommendations for State Plan Amendments, policy revisions, program development, and utilization management. The incumbent will also be responsible for communicating with stakeholders including providers, other governmental agencies, and administration. ***THIS RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE WITHOUT FURTHER NOTICE DEPENDING ON THE NUMBER OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED. In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a field of study pertinent to the program assignment and two years of paraprofessional experience which included providing social services, medical assistance programs services, or health care services to the public and required the application of regulations, laws, policies and procedures in making determinations; OR two years of experience as a Family Services Specialist II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
Special Requirements
A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
