The Position
Executive Branch Auditors plan, organize and conduct comprehensive reviews of programs and activities of executive branch agencies in accordance with the standards of the Institute of Internal Auditors.
Incumbents function as first-line supervisors who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; assign and review work; and initiate disciplinary action.
This position is based in the Division of Internal Audits within the Governor's Finance Office in Carson City, Nevada. Executive Branch Auditors 4, also known as Audit Managers, are responsible for conducting and overseeing performance audits in alignment with Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) standards. They also manage compliance reviews of internal controls, financial records, activities, and operations across State agencies to ensure regulatory compliance and enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness. Audit Managers prepare detailed reports summarizing audit findings and recommendations, which are submitted to agency management, the Director of the Governor's Finance Office, and the Executive Branch Audit Committee. These findings are also formally presented during public meetings chaired by the Governor. In addition to their audit responsibilities, Audit Managers supervise a team of two to five Executive Branch Auditors and/or Compliance Auditors and report directly to the Administrator of the Division of Internal Audits. ***THIS RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE WITHOUT FURTHER NOTICE DEPENDING ON THE NUMBER OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED. In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Current licensure as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and four years of professional level auditing experience; OR a Master's degree from an accredited college or university in business administration, accounting, finance or closely related field and five years of professional auditing experience. At least two years of the required experience must have included the leadership of large, complex, independent and comprehensive audits. This experience must have included compliance, financial, or performance audits; OR current certification as a Certified Internal Auditor and five years of professional auditing experience which included compliance, financial, or performance audits or reviews; OR one year of experience as an Executive Branch Auditor III in Nevada State service to include the above detailed education and/or certification.
Special Requirements
A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
