The Position
Social Services Program Specialists perform administrative and professional work in conjunction with the administration of statewide public assistance, medical assistance, or social services programs.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.
This opening is for a Social Services Program Specialist (SSPS) II within the Nevada Health Authority (NVHA), Office of the Medicaid Inspector General, Provider Enrollment Unit, in Las Vegas, NV. Under the direction of the SSPS III, the incumbent will primarily work in the Provider Enrollment Unit within the terminations area and may assist with enrollment and/or Managed Care Entities activities, as needed. The incumbent will review referrals for possible termination to ensure that providers are enrolled or terminated per Federal and State policies and regulation. The incumbent will be responsible for presenting their case findings and recommendations for termination and/or sanction, represent the case actions at Hearing Preparation meeting, and testify at Fair Hearings related to termination and/or sanction actions. Incumbent will be responsible for conducting Nevada Medicaid provider site visits, verifying the information submitted to the Division is accurate and to determine compliance with federal and state enrollment requirements. The incumbent must have the necessary skills, knowledge and ability to conduct research and interpret program requirements, procedures, and federal and state regulations. The incumbent must be able to accurately apply the research findings and interpretation to support enrollments, terminations, and other functions to align with program integrity objectives. The incumbent must communicate information in a clear, concise and professional manner both verbally and/or in written correspondence to managers, administrators, Fiscal Agent representatives, providers, and sister agencies. In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a field of study pertinent to the program assignment and one year of professional experience providing social services to clients or program development and evaluation which required the application of regulations, laws, policies and procedures in making determinations; OR Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a field of study pertinent to the program assignment and one year of professional experience providing medical assistance programs services or healthcare services to clients or program compliance and evaluation which required the application of regulations, laws, policies and procedures in making determinations; OR one year of experience as a Social Services Program Specialist I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
Special Requirements
A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
Additional Position Criteria
This recruitment is only open to current classified employees in State service with at least six months of continuous, full-time equivalent service.
