The Position
Budget Analysts prepare and implement budgets including the development of expenditure projections, narrative justification of programs, and detailed biennial spending plans; review and analyze budget requests and adjustments; and ensure compliance with budgetary directives, policies, regulations and limitations.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.
This position is within the Office of Pupil-Centered Funding in the Student Investment Division, this position is located in Carson City, the Budget Analyst 3 will prepare the biennial budget, monitor revenues and cash flow, report, and track expenditures for all transactions within the State Education Fund, the Education Stabilization Account, and the Contingency Account for Special Education. Funds are dispersed to 17 school districts and more than 75 Charter Schools within Nevada's Public Education System. Duties include, but are not limited to: develop budgets and monitor cash flow for three (3) budget accounts totaling approximately $7 billion; project, monitor and report revenues to ensure compliance with statutes; project and analyze cash flow needs; develop, justify and present work programs; conduct trend analyses; research and develop policy recommendations; prepare and present budgets; attend various budget hearings to make presentations and respond to questions; consult with legislative fiscal staff; prepare and analyze legislative bill drafts and comments to fiscal notes; and estimate impact of legislative and programmatic proposals. *** THIS RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE WITHOUT FURTHER NOTICE DEPENDING ON THE NUMBER OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in business or public administration, accounting, finance, economics, or closely related field and four years of professional budgeting, accounting, economic or management analysis and projection, staff analyst or auditing experience, one year of which was equivalent to a Budget Analyst II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
Special Requirements
    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required.

    Microsoft Excel: Intermediate level
