Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

JOB INFORMATION

The Department of Taxation is recruiting for a Coordinator of Assessment Standards (CAS) in Carson City. The CAS, under general direction, serves as interdisciplinary technical expert on financial and statistical analysis for property tax assessments; develops calculation methods for assessments and abatements; performs comprehensive research and statistical analysis to evaluate equalization of property values throughout the State; develops the database and random sample design methods for assessment ratio studies in which county assessor valuations are compared to independent appraisals; and uses knowledge of applied statistics to determine whether property taxable values require equalization. The incumbent may testify before the Tax Commission and State Board of Equalization regarding tax calculation methods and other quantitative matters.
The incumbent designs other statistically valid sampling plans for special department studies; conducts research for development and revision of policies, procedures, regulations, guidelines, and statutes governing the functions related to the Division; works with county officials in obtaining assessment or other data to develop reports and publications; works with local government finance staff to provide revenue forecasts for various tax types using regression analysis and other growth models; and prepares or reviews department publications to reflect requirements and changes in appraisal practices, laws, and regulations. In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in business administration, accounting, economics, mathematics, statistics, computer science, management information systems, or closely related field and three years of appraisal experience for tax purposes, one year of which included statistical analysis of appraised properties for purposes of equalization; OR Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in business administration, accounting, economics, mathematics, statistics, computer science, management information systems, or closely related field and three years of experience involving the valuation of property, including financial management, application of managerial accounting principles and practices, applied statistics, and/or computer programming for economics or other social sciences; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Notes
Certification as both a real and personal property tax appraiser by the State of Nevada is required within two years of appointment and must be maintained through continuing education as a condition of continuing employment.
Special Requirements
A valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility is required at time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
