The Position
Social Services Program Specialists perform administrative and professional work in conjunction with the administration of statewide public assistance, medical assistance, or social services programs.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others. The Aging and Disability Services Division (ADSD) is currently recruiting for a full-time Social Services Program Specialist 2 in Carson City or Reno, Nevada. This recruitment may be used to fill current and future vacancies as they occur in the following program(s): Adult Protective Services (APS) and Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program (LTCOP) Quality Assurance unit.
This position is specific to providing Quality Assurance to APS. Duties include conducting program reviews, case file reviews, understanding and interpreting state, local and federal policy, making policy and program recommendations based on data analysis, revising and maintaining specific procedures and manuals, meeting deadlines and producing reports on a regular basis, assisting with and providing training and coordination of program training sessions, developing spreadsheets to facilitate data analysis, working with interested parties such as sister agencies, individuals receiving services and providers for the betterment of the program and to maintain quality, participating in work groups and performing related duties as assigned. This position will be responsible for monitoring the case review process to include updating the tools used. During this process, areas of concern are noted and communicated to staff. Cases requiring corrective action will receive routine follow-up and monitoring. This process is followed closely for compliance. Incumbent will participate in the development of training tools used by field staff and will provide technical assistance to staff as needed. Under direction, the incumbent will collaborate with staff to prepare regular and annual reporting for management. This position may be required to supervise. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a field of study pertinent to the program assignment and one year of professional experience providing social services to clients or program development and evaluation which required the application of regulations, laws, policies and procedures in making determinations; OR Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a field of study pertinent to the program assignment and one year of professional experience providing medical assistance programs services or healthcare services to clients or program compliance and evaluation which required the application of regulations, laws, policies and procedures in making determinations; OR one year of experience as a Social Services Program Specialist I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
Special Notes
    The ability to travel at least 25% of the time is required.

    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
    This position requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.
