The Position
Budget Analysts prepare and implement budgets including the development of expenditure projections, narrative justification of programs, and detailed biennial spending plans; review and analyze budget requests and adjustments; and ensure compliance with budgetary directives, policies, regulations and limitations.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
The Department of Education, Office of Fiscal Operations, is seeking to fill a Budget Analyst 2 position in Carson City. This is position is not eligible for remote work and being in office is required. The Budget Analyst will be responsible for preparing, reviewing, and implementing budgets; providing general fiscal guidance to assigned programs; reviewing and preparing work programs submitted by assigned programs; preparing and maintaining program projections; completing reconciliations of payroll, grant, and budget tracking systems; completing fiscal year-end closing documents; participate in the development and preparation of biennial budgets. Additionally, this position will serve as a liaison for assigned programs in communication with the Governor's Finance Office (GFO), Legislative Counsel Bureau (LCB), and other State of Nevada entities. *** THIS RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE WITHOUT FURTHER NOTICE DEPENDING ON THE NUMBER OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED. In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in business or public administration, accounting, finance, economics, or closely related field and three years of professional budgeting, accounting, economic or management analysis and projection, staff analyst or auditing experience, one year of which was equivalent to a Budget Analyst I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
