The salary range indicated in this announcement is based on the Employee/Employer retirement compensation schedule. An employer-only option is available at a reduced salary range. Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

The Nevada Department of Corrections has a vacancy for a Correctional Assistant at Northern Nevada Correctional Center (NNCC), in Carson City, Nevada. Incumbent will be under supervision and direction of a P.O.S.T. certified category 3 custody officer. Incumbent will perform entry level assignments that do not require P.O.S.T. certification. Incumbent will be trained to the field of Corrections. Incumbent will assist with other duties assigned by supervisor, will not respond to emergency situations, going through and sorting mail, taking mail to the Central Administration Office, and helping with meal delivery. High school graduation or equivalent and one year of work experience.
Special Notes
Applicants must meet current Peace Officer Standards Training (POST) requirements as established in the Nevada Revised Statutes and Nevada Administrative Code.
Special Requirements
A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
Applicant must pass all phases of orientation training (during the probationary period or be subject to dismissal).
A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
