The salary range indicated in this announcement is based on the Employee/Employer retirement compensation schedule. An employer-only option is available at a reduced salary range. Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

The Position
Military Security Officers provide security for Nevada National Guard facilities, armories, installations, military equipment displays, and training sites; provide protective services to federal and State property under the control of the Nevada National Guard; enforce applicable laws, regulations, and policies; and apprehend and detain offenders.
The Office of the Military is seeking to fill a Military Security Officer 1 located in Reno. This position provides security for Base Defense and Law Enforcement operations to ensure a safe and secure environment for Nevada Air National Guard personnel to perform their duties. This position supports the NVANG Reno Facility. The primary purpose of this position is to protect Federal property from hazards such as sabotage, espionage, trespassing, theft, fire and accidents or willful damage and destruction. Maintains law and order, preserve the peace and protect life and civil rights within the jurisdiction of the military installation. ***THIS RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE WITHOUT FURTHER NOTICE DEPENDING ON THE NUMBER OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Graduation from high school or equivalent education and two years of experience in the security field which included patrolling facilities, observing and detecting intruders, and responding to emergencies; OR completion of a civilian or military law enforcement academy or certification as an industrial security specialist and one year of experience as described above.
Special Notes
    Applicants must be eligible for a Secret security clearance by the National Agency Check of the U.S. Department of Defense.
    Some positions require a Top Secret security clearance by the National Agency Check of the U.S. Department of Defense at the time of appointment.
    Applicants must meet all legal requirements to carry firearms in the performance of official duties.
    Incumbents must complete the law enforcement training provided by the agency within one year of appointment.
    Incumbents must pass an agency prescribed physical fitness test, per agency specifications, prior to appointment and maintain physical fitness requirements established by agency policy as a condition of continuing employment. The requirements of the physical fitness test will be announced at the time of recruitment.
    Some positions are required to obtain and maintain current certification as a law enforcement firearms instructor or rangemaster as a condition of continuing employment.
Special Requirements
    Some positions require work on evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
    Some positions require completion of the Department of Defense (DoD) Security Engineering Course, Anti-Terrorism Level II and Conventional Physical Security Course within one year of appointment.
Additional Position Criteria
    This position requires a valid Real ID at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.
