Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

Laboratory Technicians perform standardized technical laboratory procedures requiring knowledge in the life and physical sciences.

Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
Candidate will be working under the DONS supervision performing routine laboratory tests as directed by professional staff; prepare a variety of standard culture media; stain and label specimens; Collect/draw blood and collect urine and or tissue samples. Should be able to maintain and store laboratory equipment supplies, and inventories; maintain patient records, proper specimen handling and safety. Able to adapt to change, work under pressure, team player.
The Lab Technician position is located at Lovelock Correctional Center in Lovelock, NV.
Candidates must be reliable, able to work according to their scope of practice, able to function under pressure, establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with supervisors, custody, medical staff, and patients. This position will have significant offender contact.

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Graduation from high school or equivalent education and two years of laboratory experience performing various laboratory procedures; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
Special Requirements
A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances.
Pursuant to NRS 652.080, this position requires a State of Nevada Laboratory Assistant/Office Laboratory License issued by the Division of Public and Behavioral Health.
