APPROXIMATE ANNUAL SALARY -  $64,414.80 to  $95,630.40  PAY GRADE: 35
The salary range indicated in this announcement is based on the Employee/Employer retirement compensation schedule. An employer-only option is available at a reduced salary range. Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

The Position
Highway Maintenance Supervisors supervise skilled and semi-skilled personnel engaged in restoring roadway surfaces and restoring or constructing slopes, shoulders, culverts, structures, fixtures and landscaping.
Incumbents function as first-line supervisors who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; assign and review work; and initiate disciplinary action.
This position oversees 3 crews for substations located in Austin, Eureka, and Lund, which perform road maintenance, winter operations, betterments, completion of specialty tasks such as: signage development and maintenance as well as fence repair, and emergency response for accidents, floods and hazards to provide traffic control and maximize safety. ***THIS RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE WITHOUT FURTHER NOTICE DEPENDING ON THE NUMBER OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Graduation from high school or equivalent education and two years of experience supervising, planning and scheduling the work of a highway maintenance crew engaged in a variety of highway maintenance activities; OR two years of experience as a Highway Maintenance Supervisor I in Nevada State service OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
Special Notes
    In order to meet the needs of specialized disciplines in the highway maintenance field, specific background or skills may be required and will be identified at the time of recruitment.
Special Requirements
    Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, all positions in this series have been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in these positions must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances. In addition, federal law requires random testing for controlled substances during employment.
    A valid drivers license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
Additional Position Criteria
    A valid Class A commercial driver's license is required within six months of employment.
