The salary range indicated in this announcement is based on the Employee/Employer retirement compensation schedule. An employer-only option is available at a reduced salary range. Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

JOB INFORMATION
Work Type: Permanent, full time vacancies as they may occur
in this geographical location.
Fish Hatchery Technicians care for fish and adjust feed levels; keep accurate feed and population records; maintain and clean troughs, tanks, ponds, raceways, traps, holding pens and launders; maintain screens, water sources and aeration devices.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
This position serves as the assistant supervisor with responsibilities of training new employees in station procedures and maintains station records and station monitoring document. Incumbent is also responsible for the day-to-day operations at the Gallagher Fish Hatchery, including all aspects of fish culture from care of the reared fish to maintenance of the facility and grounds as well as delivering fish to stocked waters. Gallagher is located in Ruby Valley south of Elko. The successful candidate will be required to reside in Department housing at the Gallagher Fish Hatchery. A deduction of $50 for the current rent amount is taken from the employee's paycheck every two weeks. A refundable $500.00 cleaning/damage deposit will be required at the date of hire or by payroll deduction. Position is being recruited at both levels - Fish Hatchery Technician 3 and Fish Hatchery Technician 2. In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Graduation from high school or equivalent education and four years of experience in building trades and maintenance of mechanical equipment, two years of which were caring for fish such as adjusting fish feed levels; keeping accurate feed and population records; maintaining and cleaning troughs, tanks, ponds, raceways, traps, holding pens and launders; and/or maintaining screens, water sources and aeration devices at a fish hatchery; OR one year of experience as a Fish Hatchery Technician I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
Special Notes
Some positions require a valid State of Nevada Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within six months of appointment.
Special Requirements
Per NRS 483.926 some positions in this series are required to obtain and maintain a valid Nevada commercial driver's license. Per FMCSR 383.93 and 383.95 some positions are required to maintain a current tanker endorsement and air brake certification.
All positions in this series are required to respond to emergency situations which may occur during nonworking hours.
A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, positions in this series have been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in these positions must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances.
Incumbents in this series are required to reside in Department housing at the hatchery that is provided by the Department of Wildlife.

The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience.
