The salary range indicated in this announcement is based on the Employee/Employer retirement compensation schedule. An employer-only option is available at a reduced salary range. Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

The Position
Staff Associate Engineers perform professional engineering assignments not requiring licensure by the State Board of Professional Engineers & Land Surveyors.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
This position is with the Greenhouse Gases and Mobile Sources Branch under the Bureau of Air Quality Planning. This recruitment will be used to underfill a Professional Engineer position. The Branch is responsible for the development and/or management of climate related projects, including Nevada's Greenhouse Gas Inventory Report and Climate Pollution Reduction Grant deliverables, as well as the management of state and federal programs for the reduction of air pollutant emissions from the transportation sector, including the Nevada Clean Diesel Program, the Deisel Emission Mitigation Fund, and the Clean Trucks and Buses Incentive Program. The incumbent will process and analyze data to inventory historical and projected greenhouse gas emissions in Nevada; explore and implement new inventory methods and evaluate greenhouse gas emission reduction policies; assist in the development of a Comprehensive Climate Action Plan; track federal rules that aim to reduce greenhouse gas emissions across different sectors; and support the Branch's efforts in managing programs that reduce mobile source emissions. In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Certification by the Nevada State Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors as an Engineer Intern; OR Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in civil engineering or a closely related engineering field; OR two years of journey level technical experience equivalent to an Engineering Technician III in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

A valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility is required at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.
