The salary range indicated in this announcement is based on the Employee/Employer retirement compensation schedule. An employer-only option is available at a reduced salary range. Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

Program Officers administer a program or major component of a program by planning, coordinating and managing services and activities in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements and established program performance standards and objectives.
Incumbents recommend and implement changes to work plans, program performance standards and objectives for providing services, and eligibility requirements as permitted by program regulations and guidelines; and may train, supervise, and evaluate the performance of subordinate staff and/or a staff consisting of several students, volunteers and/or contract staff.
The State Treasurer's Office is responsible for administering the Nevada ABLE Savings Program ("ABLE") which allows people with disabilities to save and earn money without threatening the loss of state and federal benefit programs. The federal Achieving a Better Life Experience (ABLE) Act was signed into law in 2014 and gave states the ability to establish tax advantaged savings programs for people with disabilities. Under general direction, this position will work to increase awareness of and account growth into the Nevada ABLE Savings Program. This position will act as a liaison between partnering institutions and organizations to build relationships and assist school districts, community groups, non-profit organizations, other state agencies, and other individuals within Nevada's disability community in creating increased awareness about the Nevada ABLE Savings Program, thereby helping a greater number of Nevadans with disabilities save for a better future.

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in business or public administration, or other discipline related to the program assignment; OR graduation from high school or equivalent education and two years of para-professional program support experience equivalent to an Administrative Assistant III in Nevada State service which required the application of State and/or federal laws, policy and procedures; reviewing documents prepared by others for program compliance determinations; or preparing reports which summarize financial and statistical information; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
Special Requirements
A valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
A State of Nevada/FBI fingerprint based background check is required as a condition of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
Additional Position Criteria
This recruitment is only open to current classified employees in state service with at least six months of continuous, full-time equivalent service.
