Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

The Position
Information Technology (IT) Technicians install, configure, monitor, and maintain networks and monitor and maintain help desk user support or mainframe and server operations.
Incumbents independently resolve many users' PC issues including email and applications problems and record calls using the help desk application. Incumbents identify and decide how to resolve problems themselves or through appropriate referral; use utilities to check for network connectivity; and establish user rights.
The Division of Welfare and Supportive Services Child Care and Development Program is seeking an IT Technician 3. IT Technicians are responsible for maintaining and providing Help Desk support for system applications such as the Nevada Child Care System and its successor system which is currently being developed. Incumbent must independently troubleshoot, resolve and provide solutions to the end users experiencing software/system related issues. Incumbent will assist a Business Process Analyst 3 with business process analysis and consultation for IT-related solutions. This position will report directly to the BPA 3 and supervise no staff. The position is located in Carson City and may have occasional travel to/from Southern Nevada. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Graduation from high school or equivalent and four years of experience utilizing the fundamentals of typical computer systems, operating systems, applications, and peripherals, two years of which must have included IT work experience in a user support role; OR one year of relevant experience as an IT Technician II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.

The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience.
