APPROXIMATE ANNUAL SALARY -  $54,434.16 to  $80,053.92  PAY GRADE: 31
The salary range indicated in this announcement is based on the Employee/Employer retirement compensation schedule. An employer-only option is available at a reduced salary range. Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

The Position
Licensed Practical Nurses provide general or psychiatric practical nursing care in accordance with the authorized scope of practice specified in the Nurse Practice Act.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
This full-time Licensed Practical Nurse II position is located at Northern Nevada Correctional Center in Carson City, NV. Under immediate supervision, the incumbent will provide nursing care to inmates in a correctional setting in accordance with established nursing standards and DOC policies. Primary duties involve distribution of medications to inmates, processing refill requests, processing new medication orders, monitoring, and ordering floor stock medications. Other duties include by are not limited to, assisting medical providers during inmate appointments, assisting on the man down team and responding to potential medical emergencies. Incumbent must be reliable, able to work independently according to their scope of practice, able to function under pressure, establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with supervisors, custody, medical staff, and patients. This position will have significant inmate contact. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Current license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of Nevada and two years of experience as a Licensed Practical Nurse, one year of which was providing nursing care to inmates in a correctional setting, individuals with mental illness and/or developmental disabilities, or patients in a hospital or skilled nursing facility (e.g., convalescent or nursing home).
Special Notes
    Probationary employees working for the Department of Corrections must successfully complete 40 hours of "pre-service" training provided by the department.
    Must be able to work weekends
Special Requirements
    Phlebotomy certification is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
    Intravenous (IV) certification is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
    Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances.
    CPR certification is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment.
    A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment.
