The salary range indicated in this announcement is based on the Employee/Employer retirement compensation schedule. An employer-only option is available at a reduced salary range. Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

GIS Analysts are responsible for designing, implementing, supporting and administering all aspects of a department's and/or division's enterprise geographic information system.

Under general supervision, incumbents perform some of the duties described in the series concept in a more limited manner as determined by the agency.

This position is in Carson City, Hot Springs Location within the Maintenance and Asset Management Division. The incumbent is responsible for mapping, designing, implementing, supporting and administering all aspects of the Division's enterprise geographic information system (GIS). They will be responsible for planning, designing, modifying, implementing, administering, and maintaining geospatial data layers and databases; developing and delivering GIS applications and services to meet business and information needs and developing data architecture for web and mobile device software interfaces to capture level-of-service surveys and any other asset data collection. Ongoing duties include serving as a subject matter expert on current GIS best practices and escalating technical issues as needed. The incumbent must demonstrate and maintain proficiency with current and developing GIS technologies and software. The incumbent will provide on-going support for GIS programs and functions including troubleshooting problems associated with existing GIS applications, tools, and data. The ability to communicate with the divisions, understand needs, and translate needs into a discussion is critical. Experience with enterprise geodatabases, map services, and ArcGIS Online is preferred. The incumbent must have strong communication skills including active listening, feedback, and problem solving. The incumbent will require minimal direction in daily operations and must be able to work independently as well as part of teams. NOTE: THIS RECRUITMENT MAY BE USED TO UNDERFILL A GIS ANALYST 2.
