APPROXIMATE ANNUAL SALARY -  $64,414.80 to  $95,630.40  PAY GRADE: 35
The salary range indicated in this announcement is based on the Employee/Employer retirement compensation schedule. An employer-only option is available at a reduced salary range. Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

The Position
Staff Associate Engineers perform professional engineering assignments not requiring licensure by the State Board of Professional Engineers & Land Surveyors.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
Staff I, Associate Engineer (Professional Engineer Underfill) with the Nevada Division of Environmental Protection's Bureau of Water Pollution Control within the Technical Services, Compliance, and Enforcement (TCE) Branch located in the Reno office. Primary duties include inspecting Underground Injection Control (UIC) facilities, reviewing UIC plan and technical document submissions, reviewing Mechanical Integrity Testing (MIT) reports and conducting UIC compliance permits in conformance with the Federal Clean Water Act and state statutes and regulations. This position will also conduct enforcement meetings and issue enforcement actions, conduct sampling of permitted facilities and report spill incidents, and will complete technical plan reviews and compliance inspections on UIC permits located throughout Nevada. This position will also conduct reviews on Civil Improvement Plans and on Tentative and Final subdivision maps. Additional duties include issuance of violation notices, spill investigations, conducting meetings with major dischargers, subdivision plans, meeting with permittees and/or consultants. This recruitment may be used to fill future vacancies in the agency. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Certification by the Nevada State Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors as an Engineer Intern; OR Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in civil engineering or a closely related engineering field; OR two years of journey level technical experience equivalent to an Engineering Technician III in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
    A valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility is required at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.
