The salary range indicated in this announcement is based on the Employee/Employer retirement compensation schedule. An employer-only option is available at a reduced salary range. Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

JOB INFORMATION
Work Type: Permanent, full time vacancies as they may occur
in this geographical location.
Environmental Scientists perform program research, planning and development, permitting, compliance monitoring, inspections/enforcement, and technical support services in relation to air, water, waste, federal facilities, corrective action, mining, biology and other environmental programs.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.
The ES position with the Reclamation Branch perform reviews of Exploration/Mine Plans of Operations, Reclamation Plans and reclamation cost estimate model submittals to determine if a projects' affected land will meet the 519A regulatory requirement for a productive post mining land use. Submittal review often requires generating comments to the permittee to ensure compliance with 519A regulations prior to the issuance of a new reclamation permit or modification to an existing permit. The position requires site inspections of their assigned projects to validate permit compliance. Issued permits require a periodic 3-year reclamation cost estimate review to account for increased inflation costs to perform the reclamation work.

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in the physical, natural resource or life sciences, engineering or closely related field and three years of professional environmental experience which involved environmental program research and planning; OR graduation from high school or equivalent and five years of professional environmental experience as described above; OR one year of experience as an Environmental Scientist II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
Special Requirements
A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
