The salary range indicated in this announcement is based on the Employee/Employer retirement compensation schedule. An employer-only option is available at a reduced salary range. Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

The Position
Correctional Nurses provide professional nursing care to patients in a correctional setting.
Incumbents function as first-line supervisors who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff, or they coordinate and provide statewide health-related training programs.
This recruitment will be used to address current and future Correctional Nurse 3 vacancies at High Desert State Prison (HDSP), located in Indian Springs, Nevada.
incumbent identifies patient health care needs; makes comprehensive clinical observations and evaluations. Records and reports indicative signs and symptoms of physical and mental conditions. Coordinates health services and treatment; conduct sick call for inmates with medical complaints.
Administers medications to identified patients; ensures correct time, dosage and route of administration. Obtains physical orders for treatment and collaborate with staff to ensure optimum patient care.
Performs physical assessment and assists in physical examination and diagnostic testing.

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
License as a Registered Nurse and three years of professional nursing experience in a correctional or institutional setting; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
Special Requirements
Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances.
A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required.
