The Position
Fire Control Dispatchers operate communication equipment at an assigned interagency communications center and dispatch personnel, supplies, aircraft and mobile equipment to fire scenes, medical emergencies, law enforcement incidents, hazardous materials incidents and other emergency situations.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.
This position is located in Elko, Nevada. The Division of Forestry's mission is to provide professional natural resource and wildland fire management services to enhance, conserve and protect forest, rangeland and watershed values, endangered plants and other native flora. The incumbent will be responsible for taking reports during emergency situations and obtaining pertinent information to include nature and location of the incident. Incumbents are expected to determine the extent of equipment and emergency response personnel to dispatch in order to provide protection for life, property and natural resources during wildland fires, natural disasters and other emergencies as well as tracking resources and providing logistical support.

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Graduation from high school or equivalent education and three years of dispatching experience, one year of which has been in a fire control or public safety agency; OR one year of experience as a Fire Control Dispatcher I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
Special Requirements
A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
Employees may be required to work varied shifts, weekends and holidays.
Applicants are required to type 45 words per minute.
