The salary range indicated in this announcement is based on the Employee/Employer retirement compensation schedule. An employer-only option is available at a reduced salary range. Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

Under general direction, Wildlife Staff Specialists perform program research, planning, analysis and evaluation; draft proposed legislation, policies, procedures and regulations related to wildlife management programs and activities throughout the State.
Under direction of the Fisheries Division Administrator, the incumbent is responsible for the Department's statewide hatchery production, distribution, and broodstock programs and is the lead for fish health and disease matters. Position is responsible for administering various grant programs including Sportfish Restoration, focusing on grant submission, budget, yearly completion reporting, and work program development for the Nevada Statewide Trout Production and Stocking Program. The position serves as the line supervisor and oversees maintenance and refurbishment of the Department's three fish culture facilities. The incumbent provides technical assistance to regional fisheries and hatchery staff, represents the agency on various committees and working groups, and provides technical guidance on a host of other fisheries-related projects statewide.

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in wildlife management, biology or closely related field and four years of professional experience that included organizing, planning and completing wildlife management studies, writing technical reports and preparing species or land use management plans and recommendations related to wildlife management; OR one year as a Biologist III in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.

A valid drivers license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
